COMING SUMMER 2024

East Indonesia. Communities of sea people live a life that ties them closely to the marine environment. They are known as Bajo, descendants of former sea nomads who were once roaming the ocean to fish and trade.

While the short film portraits the Bajos’ deeply rooted relationship with the sea, it also shows the concerns of small-scale fishing communities heavily relying on healthy eco systems to survive. Impacted by overfishing, marine pollution, environmental threats, and biodiversity loss, their lives have changed drastically over the years.

Some individuals turn to harmful fishing methods, that have devastating effects for the health of the reefs.
