Mermaids are caught and killed in the nets of seabed-trawlers.

The series of photographs is a collaboration with Ocean Rebellion for a campaign against the destructive nature of industrial fishing. The project, originally shot for COP26, is asking our world leaders to end the wholesale destruction of the ocean through factory fishing.

Bottom trawling is a form of large-scale fishing that uses heavy weighted nets across the sea floor. It destroys marine habitats and kills vast amounts of sea life in the process.
